This detox should not mess up your metabolism. These are the benefits that you can expect from this detox:
To dissolve and eliminate toxins & congestion that have formed in any part of the body.
To cleanse the kidney and the digestive system.
To purify the glands and cells throughout the entire body.
To eliminate unusable waste and hardened material in the joints & muscles.
To relieve pressure and irritation in the nerves, arteries & blood vessels
To build a healthy blood stream.
To encourage youth and elasticity in the skin regardless of age.

The detox should be used for the following reasons:
When imbalance has developed - for all acute & chronic conditions.
When the digestive system needs a rest and a cleansing.
When overweight has become a problem.
When better assimilation and building of body tissue is needed.

There are so many to choose from and I would say that it is an individual's choice as to which one is realistic for them. Having started my ten (10) days of detox yesterday I will have to admit that the process is not easy and it would be very easy to "jump ship", especially when things get stirred up.

I started the detox yesterday morning with the first step - an Internal Salt Water Bath (2 teaspoons of sea salt to a quart of lukewarm water). One is to drink the entire quart of salt water first thing in the morning - on an empty stomach - allowing yourself a stay at home for approximately 2 hours after drinking the salt water, as the bowels will move frequently in the second hour.

I sailed through this first step and felt great.

My Detox notes stated that the Internal Salt Water Bath should be done Days 1, 4 & 8. It said not to be afraid of the salt affecting blood pressure provided it is consumed first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. The salt water has the same specific gravity as the blood - hence the kidneys cannot pick up the water and the blood cannot pick up the salt. The salt and water will quickly and thoroughly wash the entire digestive tract in about one hour.

This was a new process for me and not a part of a similar master cleanse that I had done in the past. It does states in the notes that one does not need to do the Internal Salt Water Bath to have a detox take place.

Anyway, I sailed through the Internal Salt Water Bath and then began the second step - the Lemonade Drink. The Lemonade Drink is to be taken off and on throughout the day along with distilled water in between. One can mix a glass as they go - I made mine up for the entire day and kept one nearby at all times. The recipe for the day is as follows:
3 to 6 fresh lemons or limes (I used 3 fresh lemons)
3/4 to 1 1/2 cups pure maple syrup (I used 3/4 cup)
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
60 to 120 ounces of distilled water (I used 90 ounces)

The lemons and/or limes contain tremendous cleansing agents and building factors.
The maple syrup has a large variety of minerals and vitamins, and help you feel satisfied.
The cayenne pepper is necessary as it breaks up mucus and increases circulation.

Mint or alfalfa tea may be used occasionally during the 10 days as a pleasant change and to assist further in the cleansing.
Do not use vitamin and mineral supplements during the 10 day cleanse.
NO FOOD should be taken during the full period of the Master Cleanser.

As you get hungry you just have another glass of lemonade. I usually drink some of the lemonade drink and then follow with some plain water. The notes state that one should drink 6 to 23 glasses of the lemonade mix daily during the waking period. For those who are overweight less maple syrup should be used. For those who are underweight and worried about losing more weight they should REMEMBER that the only things they will lose are mucus, waste and disease. Healthy tissue will not be eliminated.

The notes also state not to vary the amount of lemon juice used per recipe per day.

So, I am drinking my lemonade mix and pure distilled water and all is going well on the first day - until about 2:00 in the afternoon at which time I began to get a headache. The headache persisted off and on into the evening, at times piercing through my Left eye. About 4:00 in the afternoon I began to experience some dizziness and nausea. I was very thankful that I had allowed myself a day off of work and was able to rest, just as the notes recommended.

As the headache and the nausea continued into the late evening, I decided to add in a step to get through this first challenge. I made up one glass of Shaklee Performance. As the Performance does not pass through the stomach or digestive tract, but rather, goes right to the blood stream, it helped with the nausea and gave my body some balance so that I was able to go to sleep. I had a good nights rest and woke this morning ready to begin the second day.

I was supposed to take 2 Shaklee Herb Lax and 8 Shaklee Fiber Tablets last evening but due to the headache and nausea was not able to do so. I waited until this morning to get started with these.

This second day has gone much better. I started by drinking a couple of plain glasses of distilled water upon rising this morning. During this time I mixed up a day's worth of the lemonade mix - today omitting the cayenne pepper has I needed a break from this ingredient and will add it back in tomorrow. I have been drinking the lemonade mix off and on all day along with plain distilled water. I did take the recommended 2 Herb Lax tablets and 8 Fiber tablets this morning, and plan to take the same this evening.

I also added in a cup of Shaklee Cinch Energyzing Tea this morning and this afternoon. I have been working at my office since 9:00 this morning and have experience plenty of energy and no headaches or nausea, which by the way can be very normal. If one is very toxic they may experience flu-like symptoms, achy muscles, dizziness and nausea, sometimes for several days. I am thankful I only had one day of it. I believe I am well on my way to completing the 10 day detox. I will keep posting as the days go by.

Blessings,

I have been considering doing a detox for quite a while. I have two concerns that have kept me from moving forward with a detox:
1. Will it mess up my metabolism?
2. Which detox is the right one to do...there are so many to choose from when you research "detox" on Google.
I am very interested to hear what you think of your 10 day detox.

Yes.

First through I would not recommend doing the detox until you have worked at maintaining a very healthy diet and are drinking only water and herbal teas (without sweetner is best).

I also started preparing for the detox a few weeks ago by doing a "daily water flush". The water flush is as follows:

Upon rising in the morning begin drinking 2 full 8 ounce glasses to rehydrate the body after your hours of sleep. Once you have mastered the 2 glasses of water, you begin to work your way up to 4-6 glasses of water daily upon rising. The amount depends on our build and body type. Be sure to listen to your body and find your own personal amount. Try to organize your morning so that after you drink your 4-6 glasses of water, you have about one hour before eating breakfast. Once your are up to you maximum level for at least 2 weeks, then add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to the last glass of water and take 12 Shaklee Alfalfa tablets. If you are not familiar with Shaklee products you can check them out by following the Shaklee link on the main Skin Excellence website. After breakfast continue drinking the recommended amount of water for your body. The best time to consume this water is 30-60 minutes before a meal, or 2 hours after eating.

I also would not recommend doing a deep cleanse during a hectic or stressful time. It would be very difficult and not productive.

I will share the details of the ten (10) day detox as I work through it beginning tomorrow.

Blessings,
